A Little History

Before the 1920's, people experienced the rigid societal rules of the Edwardian Era, which however, saw a rise in concern for the poor and for human rights. When World War I ended in 1919 people found themselves recovering from the trauma and losses of the war. Many women entered the workforce doing jobs that were previously held by men, and after the war where not content to go back to the kitchen and be silent. Women also liberated themselves from the restrictive corsets of earlier days, preferring a more boyish look. Where busts had been accentuated, bust now were bound and minimized.
